Notes - Chad Matthew Waters Chad Matthew Waters. 30, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2005. He was born on Sept. 1, 1974, in Topeka, the son of Larry G. and Barbara J. Ronsick Waters. He graduated from Topeka Lutheran School, Topeka West High School and from Washburn University with a degree in psychology. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. At Topeka West, he played football and basketball, and ran track. He was all-conference in football and played in the Shrine Bowl. He also played at Fort Scott Junior College. He still holds the freshman long jump record of 21 feet, 9 inches. He jumped for the Topeka Thunderbolt Track Club at AAU and TAC events. He was third nationally in both when he was 12 years of age. He played baseball for the SCABA Pistols team, which won several state championships. More recently, he played flag football for DOS, over 30 baseball and basketball. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, bow hunter, golfer and scuba diver. He also bowled and was in a pool league. He was a business and financial mentor for Junior Achievement for Topeka government. He was a mortgage broker for Arrow Financial. He married Melissa Missy Allen, his high school sweetheart, on June 3, 2000, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his parents, Larry and Barbara Waters, Topeka; one brother, Chis Waters, Auburn; one sister, Shari Waters, Topeka; two nieces, Elizabeth and Caroline, and one nephew, C. Benjamin, all of Topeka. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Chad will lie in state after noon Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Topeka Lutheran School, 701 S.W. Roosevelt, Topeka, Kan. 66606, or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, in care of the Arab Temple, 1305 S.
