Ronsick -- 50 years

Omar A. and Lois Ronsick, Hutchinson, Kan., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children. They are former residents of Fort Scott.

Ronsick and the former Lois Chambers were married June 1, 1957, in Uniontown. He is a retired minister with 53 years of service, and she is a retired insurance clerk.

Their children and spouses are Bill and Linda Drury, Dr. Steven and Christy Ronsick, all of Hutchinson, and Troy and Janet Munsterman, Nevada. They have 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Omar Alvin Ronsick, 85, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2016. He was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Paola, to Alvin and Leora (Jones) Ronsick.

Omar grew up in Paola, graduating from Paola High School before attending college in Ottawa and Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Ariz. Omar then went on to graduate with a degree in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served his Lord by preaching and singing for 53 years in churches in Kansas, Missouri, and California. Omar was a member of the Gideon’s International Association for many years, preaching, distributing Bibles, and working in the jail ministry.

Omar served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, where he was stationed in Korea as a Prisoner of War guard.

On June 1, 1957, he married Lois Chambers in Uniontown. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Dr. Steven Ronsick (Christy), Hutchinson; daughter, Janet Munsterman (Troy), Nevada, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Linda Ronsick; and three sisters.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Elliott Chapel with Reverend James Francis presiding. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
