- Lewis A. Jones, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa and formerly of Rembrandt, Iowa died January 15, 2013 at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Lewis Alfred Jones was born September 14, 1921 in Blencoe, Iowa the son of Lewis Earl and Flora Fern (Love) Jones.
Growing up, he attended Mobley country school in Monona County, Iowa. He completed grades one thru eight before having to quit school. After quitting school, he helped his father farm as well as taking two purebred stallions to different locations in the area to be used as breeding animals by the area farmers.
Lewis picked a lot of corn by hand as a young man. He entered several hand corn picking contests around the Blencoe and Little Sioux, Iowa area. He worked as a hired man for Fred Klean in Buena Vista County in the 1940's before getting his own place to start farming.
On August 21, 1943, Leiws was united in marriage to Wilma Fern Heistand in Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with two children, Dorothy and Gordon. He later married Lois Guiver in January of 2004.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Lewis loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Dorothy (Robert) Brummer of Albert City, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Pam (Mike) Cronin of Cleghorn, Iowa; grandchildren: Kerry (Brian) Amendt of Spencer, Iowa; Lane Jones of Rembrandt, Iowa; Jeanna Bergendahl of Cleghorn, Iowa; great grandchildren: Tyler and Erika Amendt; Braxton Bergendahl; extended family and friends.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gordon Jones; two wives, Wilma and Lois; sister, Viola Ruffcorn; and one brother, Elmo Jones.
