Notes - Passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Auburn Heights Senior Care in Auburn, following a brief illness, at the age of 81. She was born Jan. 30, 1929 in Caro, the daughter of the late Edwin and Goldie (Faedie) Poppe, and was a lifelong Caro resident, with the exception of the last few years spent in Auburn. She was united in marriage with E.C. (Hutch) Hutchinson on June 7, 1951 in Caro. He preceded Arlene in death on June 25, 2000. For many years, Arlene was employed at the Ben Franklin store in Caro before starting her employment at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in the laundry department for 20 years, retiring in 1994. During her free time, Arlene liked doing crafts of all kinds, including china painting, basket weaving, caning chairs, weaving and collecting antiques. Surviving Arlene are two brothers and their spouses, Richard and Joyce Poppe of Bay City, Herbert and Barbara Poppe of Hawks, MI and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Arlene was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Vanover and her brother-in-law, Rev. Phillip Vanover. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Ransford Funeral Home in Caro with Chaplain Jerry Larkin from Southern Care Hospice officiating. Burial followed at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
