  HIGHLEN, HAZEL VENORA; went home to be with Jesus on March 24, 2012. She was born June 30, 1928 in Michigan to the late John and Aurilla Highlen. She died in her home in Waterford, Michigan, surrounded by loved ones who sang her into Heaven. She is survived by many nieces and nephews; and is preceded in death by her 7 brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Lester, Verl, Clyde, Clare, and Keith. Hazel touched the life of every person she met, many friends affectionately calling her "Aunt Hazel". Her biological nieces and nephews make a grand number; 21 nieces and nephews; 54 great nieces and nephews; 73 great great nieces and nephews and 8 great great great nieces and nephews, all of whom she knew birthdays and addresses. She was an active member of her beloved church, Waterford Oaks Community Church, where she nurtured many lifelong friendships with her church family. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. (Women's Christian Temperance Union) for many years. A Celebration of Hazel's Life will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, 1 p.m. at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford. Pastor Jeremiah Clements officiating. Interment to follow at Ottawa Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 3 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions in Hazel's memory may be made to Waterford Oaks Community Church.
