  • Notes 
    • Nina Janks, age 85 years, of Jacob Road, Caro passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Marlette Community Hospital. She was born on November 15, 1921 in Gagetown to the late Calvin and Mable Hiser.

      The former Nina Hiser married Fred Janks on September 30, 1939 in Napoleon, Ohio. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1999. Nina was a homemaker and raised her large family. She was an active contributor to the church bazaar, and enjoyed canning, baking and making baby quilts. Nina was a member of the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church and longtime Sunday school teacher, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Up and At'm Farm Bureau Club and a 4-H leader.

      Nina is survived by six children and their spouses, Bob (Bonnie) Janks of Mayville, Gary (Joyce) Janks of Caro, Dale (Diane) Janks of Caro, Sharon (Gary) Tesho of Gaylord, Karen (Don) Smale of Caro and Betty Stewart of Fairgrove; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Janks of Lakeport; fifteen grand-children; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine (Archie) Ferguson of Utica; one brother, Carl (Donna) Hiser of Caro; several nieces and nephews.

      In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jim Janks; a son-in-law, Mike Stewart; a grandson, Allen Janks; a great-grandson, Carter Meerschaert; three brothers, Cliff (Margaret) Hiser, L.Z. Hiser and Adrian Hiser; two sisters, Beatrice King and Shirley Hiser.
