He was a decorated veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Faribault. He worked for the United States Postal Service at the Bulk Mail Center in Kansas City, Kan., where he retired as a maintenance supervisor. His wife of 36 years, Mary Alice (Clough) Bilyeu, preceded him in death in February of 1992. Second youngest of 12 children and is survived by his younger sister, Christine Sorrell of Ukon, Okla., son, Mitchell A. Bilyeu of Merriam, Kan., daughter, Michelle B. O'Connor and husband Tim of Holden, Mo., and three grandchildren, Alshley A. Bilyeu, Kristopher A. Bilyeu, Maryjane B. O'Connor, and faithful companion for many years, Rita Storz. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kan. Graveside service 12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at New Hope Cemetery, Kaiser, Mo.
