  From Story County Watchman February 19, 1897 Maxwell Tribune: Mary Eliza, wife of Al. Jones, died at their residence north of Iowa Center, at 11 o'clock p. m. Feb. 11, 1897, aged 35 years, 5 months and 10 days. The deceased was a daughter of Samuel Whitaker, and was born near Iowa Center, Aug. 31, 1861. In this vicinity she grew to womanhood, loved and respected by all who knew her. On April 7, 1878, she was united in marriage to Albert Jones. Nine children were born to them, two of whom as also her mother, preceded her to the eternal world.
