Notes - Robert Lee Hays, of Skiatook, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at his home on Skiatook Lake at the age of 79. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today, June 19, 2012, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, with Rev. Colbert Turney officiating at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso.
Robert was born May 3, 1933 in Kansas City, Mo., to Charles and Emma (Rimel) Hays.
He was raised and received his education in Kansas City.
On Oct. 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Thelma Harrell in Bolivar, Mo. They made their home in Kansas City, and they later moved to Oklahoma City and Moore.
In 2003, the couple moved to Owasso, and since 2005, they’ve resided on Skiatook Lake.
Robert worked in industrial manufacturing sales until retirement.
He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard, but family, especially grandchildren, were his priority. When not at their home on Skiatook Lake, they enjoyed spending time at Lake Tenkiller.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jean and Wayne; and sister, Doris.
Those that survive include his wife, Thelma; daughters, Marcia Lee Martin and husband, Al, of Cookson, and Renee Ann Durkee and husband, Shannon, of Owasso; grandchildren, Michelle Baker and husband, Brad, of Cookson, Daniel Lunsford, of Owasso, Victor Martin, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Morgan Martin, of Tahlequah; great grandchildren, Haley McCurdy, Kelsy Baker and Justin Baker, all of Cookson; and sister, Carol Campbell, of Bolivar.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
