  Gene “Ed” Jurgena 67, Holmesville, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. He was born June 9, 1944 in Fairbury. He attended Belvidere Grade School and Beatrice High School. Ed worked 42 years for Hoover (Steel Tank) Universal MFG. He loved animals. He married Ellen Nickels in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Holmesville; son, Todd Jurgena and wife Bonnie of Beatrice; daughter, Tori Allen of Lincoln; step-daughter, Peggy Nickels of Beatrice; step-son, Theodore Nickels of Beatrice; granddaughter, Cheyenne Jurgena of Beatrice; 5 step-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Maxine (Hill) Jurgena; step-grandson, Logan Weirs; brother, Fred Jurgena. Private Graveside services will be held at the Blue Springs Cemetery with John Snyder officiating. A gathering of Family and Friends will be held Tuesday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The body will lie in state Sunday from 5 pm until Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice.
